Counselling is an enabling and empowering process.
Your counsellor will not judge but will help you make your own choices and decisions and to develop a greater self awareness of the way that you feel, think and behave.
Talking to a counsellor in confidence enables you to express yourself freely and openly in a way not possible with family or friends.
Your counsellor will give you the opportunity to examine your personal difficulties and to find a starting point for you to effect the changes you want in your life.
EMDR and CBT are particular forms of counselling. EMDR is an effective therapy with trauma and PTSD. CBT integrates techniques from other forms of counselling and focuses on how thoughts, feelings, physical symptoms, behaviours and environmental factors can affect your mental health.
Many couples find that talking to one of our couples counsellors enables them to express their thoughts and feelings in a safe environment, facilitate mutual empathy, to negotiate, recognise difference and to resolve conflict. Your counsellor will not take sides but will work to bring you together to a joint understanding of each other's needs and issues.
All counsellors are required by our professional standards to have our own regular supervision in order to ensure we are looking after our client's interests and keeping our client's and ourselves safe.
